Macon is throwing quite a block party and volunteers are needed.

On Sunday, April 17, from 2-6 p.m., College Street will be closed from Riverside Drive, through Mercer University to Anthony Road for Open Streets Macon.

Vehicles will be allowed to cross College Street from side streets, but no traffic will be permitted down the avenue.

Walkers, joggers, cyclists and skaters are all invited to take to the streets in the event organized by Bike Macon, the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, Macon-Bibb County Parks and Beautification, Macon-Bibb County Urban Development Authority and Main Street Macon.

Health and wellness activities are planned and volunteers are needed to help keep everyone safe.

T-shirts will be given to volunteers on a first-come, first-served basis.
