Macon-Bibb homestead exemption deadline is Friday
Friday is the deadline for Macon-Bibb County homeowners to apply for a homestead exemption, according to the Tax Commissioner's Office.
Property owners who have received a homestead exemption on their property in the past do not have to apply again.
Two additional exemptions -- standard elderly school tax for people age 62 and older, and standard elderly general for ages 65 and up -- are open to applicants and their spouses if they have a net income less than $10,000, said interim Tax Commissioner Wade McCord. The deadline to provide proof of income is April 30.
For more information, call the Tax Commissioner's Office at 621-6500 or visit the office at 188 Third St. in downtown Macon.
