Macon-Bibb County celebrating National Public Health Week

As the Macon-Bibb County Health Department celebrates National Public Health Week, the public is invited to several events next week.

Beginning Monday, the 171 Emery Highway location will be collecting canned fruits and vegetables for River Edge Behavioral Health clients.

Goods will be collected all week from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The health department will host a blood drive Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

At an Eat Well-Play Hard rally Wednesday from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at Tattnall Square Park, health professionals will speak about childhood obesity and invite children and teens to participate in activities during the Mulberry Market.

Thursday, the environmental health team will be educating the public about on-site sewage management in stops throughout the community.

The week winds up Friday with free oral cancer screenings from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Emery Highway location.
