Traffic to be affected by Mercer University Drive pedestrian bridge

Placing a pedestrian bridge over Mercer University Drive will impact traffic in upcoming weeks, according to a news release.

Macon-Bibb County officials are asking people to be prepared for lane closures and detours around the bridge that will connect the Lofts at Mercer Landing to campus.

The westbound lanes of Mercer University Drive will be shut down during the first phase that lasts from 5 p.m. Monday until 5 p.m. April 5. All westbound traffic will be routed onto one of the lanes normally designed for eastbound traffic, the release said.

The second phase will lead to the closure of all lanes off Mercer University Drive between Stadium Drive and College Street. Traffic will be detoured around the Lofts at Mercer Landing while that work is underway from 5 p.m. April 5 to the same time on April 8.
