Macon's high temperature Wednesday tied a record when it reached 87 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The 87-degree mark tied the record temperature set on that date in 1955. Typically, highs in mid-March are about 70 degrees in Macon, meteorologist Ryan Willis said.
Forecasts call for temperatures to drop through the weekend, including dipping into the 30s by early Monday morning.
"It'll be a gradual cooldown over the next few days," Willis said. "(Thursday) will be in the mid-to-upper 70s and by Friday in the low-to-mid 70s. It should really cool off for the weekend. On Saturday and Sunday it'll be in the 60s, and by Monday morning it'll be down in the 30s."
