4-year-old Macon boy dies after being run over by truck

A 4-year-old boy died Monday night in Macon after he was run over by a pickup.

Josiah Hawkins got into a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 about 7:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of Beddingfield Drive in south Macon, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.

Josiah is thought to have pulled the truck out of gear and either fell out or jumped out, Jones said. The truck ran over him, and he was rushed to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, Jones said. The boy was pronounced dead at 8:31 p.m. of massive head injuries.

No other details were immediately available.

"This is another tragedy for Macon-Bibb County," Jones said.
