Macon's Javors Lucas Lake opens for fishing season
Until the end of June, it is open season for weekend fishing on Javors Lucas Lake.
The Macon Water Authority's 589-acre reservoir off Upper River Road in Jones County will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. through May 1, when the schedule changes to 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. on those three days each week.
The lake closes for public fishing during the months of July and August, but will reopen only on Saturdays and Sundays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Sept. 3 until Oct. 30.
Only boats with electric or trolling motors are allowed on the lake, which supplies Macon's drinking water. Daily fees for fishing are $5 along the shoreline and $10 for boats. Season passes are $100 for boaters and $50 for those staying on land.
For more information on fishing regulations, visit the authority's website, www.maconwater.org.
