Man hurt in Bibb courthouse fall was trying to reach phone

A 20-year-old Macon man who fell from the fourth floor to the third floor in the main stairwell at the Bibb County Courthouse was reportedly trying to retrieve a woman's cellphone when he slipped.

A sheriff's report of the 8:45 a.m. Friday incident wasn't clear about how far Johnathan Kyle Dixon fell, just that he was hurt after reaching for a phone that a woman dropped near "the landing beside the stairs on the fourth floor."

A deputy at the courthouse noted that he heard "a crash" and soon found Dixon "wedged between the stair railing and the wall beside the third floor steps," the report said.

The deputy told Dixon to lie still while he called for help.

Dixon "seemed dazed and confused," the report noted, and his mouth was bleeding.
