North Georgia man dies in Bibb County crash

A north Georgia man was killed about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday in a one-car crash just after his 53rd birthday Tuesday, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Marty Larry Long, of Fannin County, was driving a red Toyota Scion coupe northbound on Sheraton Drive approaching Sheraton Court, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

Long struck a curb, hit a guy wire and lost control of the car as it continued north into a parking lot where it crashed into a tree and lodged under a parked semi-trailer.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:20 a.m. from multiple blunt force trauma, Jones said.

Long lived in Macon but worked in Austell for the Colonial Pipeline Co., Jones said.
