Milledgeville police hosting Citizens Police Academy

Adults who want to get a closer look at police work have an opportunity to attend a five-week Citizens Police Academy in Milledgeville.

For the first time in 10 years, the Milledgeville Police Department is holding classes on Monday nights from 6:30-9 p.m. beginning April 4.

Maj. John Davis said the classes can clear up misconceptions about police work.

"I think it builds a bridge between the community and us," Davis said. "A lot of what we do in law enforcement is reactionary. ... This is an opportunity for us to be proactive."

Applications, which will be accepted until March 25, are available at the police department at 125 W. Macintosh St., or at this link: https://goo.gl/jtcZ8c.
