Pickup flips into power pole on Macon's Lamar Road
A Roberta woman had to be cut from her pickup early Friday after flipping the vehicle into a power pole on Lamar Road near Zebulon Road.
When firefighters arrived shortly after 7:30 a.m., 42-year-old Elizabeth Edwards was standing up but could not get out of the cab of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, which was resting on the passenger side doors.
Edwards was talking to them the whole time and did not appear to be seriously injured, but was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Several Georgia Power crews responded to replace the broken pole and restore electricity that was temporarily out near Lake Wildwood.
About 375 customers initially lost power, but all but a handful of those had service restored within the hour, said Georgia Power spokesman John Kraft.
"We try to see if we can isolate that to the smallest group possible," Kraft said.
By 11:20 a.m., the pole was replaced and service completely restored.
Bibb County sheriff's deputy Linda Howard said Edwards was headed toward Thomaston Road when her right tire left the pavement, she lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over, snapping the pole and stretching overhead utility lines.
