Rest area in Macon closed for weekend repairs

The rest area on Interstate 475 northbound in Macon will be temporarily closed this weekend, according to a news release from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The rest area, near mile marker 7.7, will close Friday as a contractor starts repairs on a water main, according to the release.

Work is expected to be finished by Saturday evening. Until then, drivers are encouraged to use facilities at the Zebulon Road exit or the Thomaston Road exit.
