Enrollment opens for 2016 Sheriff's Citizen Academy

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is inviting residents to enroll in its 2016 Sheriff's Citizen Academy.

The academy's goal is to give residents a deeper understanding of what the sheriff's office is and what it does, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. It will also be an opportunity for the sheriff's office to share information about the many duties of a deputy, such as conducting traffic stops, processing crime scenes, arrest procedures and jail operations, according to the release.

Interested residents will have an opportunity to tour district patrol offices and meet Sheriff David Davis, his command staff and some of the deputies, according to the release.

The academy will be held at the Bibb County Sheriff's Training Academy, located at 1166 Jackson St., at 6 p.m. on Mondays and will take place from March 7 - April 25, according to the release. The deadline to register for classes is February 29.

Anyone interested in attending the Sheriff's Citizen Academy may call Lt. Ellis Sinclair at 803-2701.
