Historic Macon seeks nominations for 2016 preservation awards
The Historic Macon Foundation is asking for the public's help with choosing the best preservation projects to reward.
Nominations for the 2016 preservation awards must be made by Feb. 26 and can be submitted online at Historic Macon's website.
Projects do not have to be complete at the time of nomination, but they must be completed by May 5 when awards will be presented in four categories, according to a news release from Historic Macon.
The categories include a revitalization project, a stewardship project in addition to the preservation, rehabilitation or restoration of a residential, commercial or institutional building. A stewardship award honors owners or families who ensure their building stays in excellent condition over a period of decades. The revitalization award honors projects that make an "exceptional contribution to the community or are pioneering investments in historic districts in desperate need of revitalization," according to the release.
