Ga. Supreme Court upholds conviction, life sentence in Laurens County murder case
The Georgia Supreme Court has upheld a murder conviction and life sentence handed down in a 2006 Laurens County murder case.
A jury convicted Carl Ray Adams of murder in 2009 after deliberating just 35 minutes. He had been charged with the shooting death of his roommate, Randall Nathan Johnson.
The court's decision on Adams' appeal was released Monday.
Adams had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity for shooting Johnson after a day of drinking and watching football on TV. They had argued over a woman, trial testimony showed.
