Dublin names new police chief
The city of Dublin was set to swear in a new police chief Monday night.
City manager Lance Jones said the new chief, Tim Chatman, is replacing the outgoing and retiring Wayne Cain, who had been chief for more than a decade.
Chatman, who had been the assistant chief under Cain, had been serving as interim chief since Cain retired last month, Jones said. Cain had been a city police officer for more than 30 years.
Chatman worked for the GBI for nearly 20 years and had been a Dublin police officer before that in the past, Jones said.
"The former city manager had brought Tim in as a succession plan for the old police chief," Jones said. "I'm sure he'll have a lot of new ideas, but a lot of stuff he's been doing while he's been on the job."
