Christmas tree recycling event set for Saturday in Macon-Bibb
Georgians will have the opportunity to recycle their Christmas trees on Saturday as the state's annual "Bring One for the Chipper" program invites residents to take their trees to local drop-off centers from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
In Macon, the dropoff point will be in Central City Park behind Luther Williams Field, according to a news release from the Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Commission.
The chipped-up trees will be used in mulched landscapes, to help absorb runoff and prevent erosion during heavy rainfall, according to the release.
The statewide event has taken place since 1991 and is an initiative of the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation under the Department of Community Affairs.
Meanwhile, Warner Robins will hold its annual Great Christmas Tree Round-Up 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Jan. 9. Trees should be dropped off at the water tower on Maple Street. For more information, call Keep Warner Robins Beautiful at 478-929-7258.
