Coroner seeking information after body found in Macon home

Bibb County officials are seeking next of kin and information about a deceased woman found in a Macon home Monday.

About 11 a.m., the body of Kathy Melissa Seehafer, 48, was discovered in a duplex at 453 Middle St. near Hardeman Avenue and Interstate 75. Neighbors originally alerted another neighbor that the body was inside the apartment, and that neighbor called 911.

Seehafer didn't live in the home, which was rented to Melissa Briggs.

"The resident of the home can't be found," said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

The exact circumstances and time of Seehafer's death aren't yet known, Jones said.

Anyone with information about Briggs' whereabouts or Seehafer's next of kin is asked to call Jones at 478-256-6716.
