Dogs attack, kill 84 chickens on Bibb County farm

Eighty hens and four roosters were killed by a pack of dogs on a farm in east Bibb County earlier this week.

The chickens died sometime Wednesday night, said farmer Danny Worsham, who lives on a 7-acre spread there in the 1600 block of Jeffersonville Road.

"This is about the sixth or seventh time this has happened," Worsham said. "I've got real good fences with electric fences around it and everything else, and these darn dogs run in packs around here."

He said people who live in the area "get these old pit bulls and all and they get tired of them and turn them loose. Nobody takes care of them."

Worsham, 69, a former Bibb sheriff's captain, discovered the slaughter Thursday.

He lost 89 chickens to a dog attack last fall.

"I spent another $1,000 on fencing and then it happens again," Worsham said. "That kind of does me in with it."
