Woman killed in Dodge County wreck

A 34-year-old woman died Tuesday when the Jeep SUV she was driving ran off a country road in a curve near the Dodge County town of Empire, not far south of the Bleckley County line.

Christy Noles, pronounced dead at the hospital in Cochran, had been driving someone to work just after 8 a.m. when she crashed, said Dodge County Coroner Joe Smith.

The person riding with Noles was not seriously hurt, Smith said.

Noles, who lived in northern Dodge County, was thrown from the SUV when it veered off West Chicken Road, about a mile east of Ga. 87, between Empire and Chester.

"She was going around a curve too fast and lost control and it rolled over," the coroner said.

Smith said Noles' passenger went to a nearby house and called for help.
