Woman dies in crash when driver goes wrong way on I-75 in Macon

A 20-year-old woman traveling on Interstate 75 in Macon died Sunday night when a man driving the wrong way hit her vehicle.

About 7:30 p.m., a Ford F-250 truck driven by 63-year-old Curtis Williams was traveling north in the southbound lane on I-75 near Eisenhower Parkway, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. The truck stuck a Toyota Corolla head on driven by Tylar Coley, 20, of Macon who was traveling south in the left lane.

Coley was pronounced dead at the scene, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Williams was transported to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, where he was listed in stable condition, Jones said.

The area between the Eisenhower Parkway on and off ramps were temporarily blocked while the wreck was being investigated.

Anyone with information regarding the crash should contact the sheriff's office at 751-7500 and leave a message for the on-call accident investigator.
