Collection record broken by U.S. Attorney's Office for Middle District of Georgia

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Georgia broke a record this recent fiscal year by collecting more than $14.8 million from civil and criminal actions.

"I am proud of the fact that this is the largest sum ever collected" by the district, G.F. Peterman III, acting U.S. attorney for the 70-county district, said in a news release. "While this is a result of hard work by our entire Civil and Criminal Divisions staffs, it is due especially to fine work by our health care fraud attorneys in several major cases and by the overall work of our Financial Litigation Unit."

In total, the U.S. Justice Department collected $23.1 billion in civil and criminal actions in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, according to the release.
