Macon native Jason Aldean went home from the American Music Awards empty handed Sunday after being nominated for Favorite Country Male Artist and Favorite Country Album.

Instead, those awards went to Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line. Florida Georgia Line's winning album is "Anything Goes."

Aldean's nominated album was "Old Boots, New Dirt," and includes the song, "Gonna Know We Were Here." The music video for the tune was shot in Macon.

Meanwhile, Miss America Betty Cantrell, of Warner Robins, appeared on the AMA stage with entrepreneur Kevin O'Leary presenting the award for best soul/R&B male artist. This was one day after performing the National Anthem at Mercer University's football game against Samford.
