Macon-Bibb honors Vietnam vets

A ceremony Tuesday afternoon to honor Vietnam War veterans drew well over 100 people to the Macon-Bibb County Government Center.

The veterans were recognized by county officials as part of the 50-year anniversary of the war.

Among those recognized were Macon-Bibb County Robert Reichert and former Macon Mayor C. Jack Ellis.

A special attendee was an "American Gold Star" mother Jean Cox, whose son Stephen Walker was killed in the Vietnam War. The designation is for mothers who have lost sons or daughters in combat action.
