Woman dies after crashing car into Macon creek
The driver of a compact car died in Macon early Wednesday after she went off Lamar Road into a creek just west of her home in Lake Wildwood.
Edvivian Redshirt, 38, of Bristlecone Drive, was headed south near Country Oaks Drive just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when the car veered right onto the road's grassy shoulder.
Redshirt hit a cement bridge railing and went down into Rocky Creek, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
People got into the water to try to rescue her from the partially submerged car, but Macon-Bibb County firefighters freed her from the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze.
She was taken to Medical Center, Navicent Health where she was pronounced dead at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident and would like anyone with information to call 751-7500 and leave a message for a traffic fatality investigator.
