Death of Macon child under investigation

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a child Saturday.

According to a news release, deputies were called to a home on the 900 block of Plant Street at about 11:30 a.m. A 15-month-old boy was reported to have been found unresponsive by his mother.

The child was pronounced dead at the Medical Center, Navicent Health. An autopsy is planned for Monday.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones identified the child as Deshaun Lester. Jones said the child's body was checked thoroughly and there were no signs of trauma.

"This was a healthy looking, well nourished baby," he said. "I didn't see anything unusual."
