Macon Arts Alliance awarding 2015 Cultural Awards Thursday night

The Macon Arts Alliance is handing out its 2015 Cultural Awards during its annual meeting Thursday night.

The awards are presented to those who have made significant contributions to the arts and cultural community.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Douglass Theatre in downtown Macon. The meeting will feature a short presentation about the alliance's accomplishments over the past year and an overview of plans for the future.

Here are the winners:

Beverly Blake, program director of the Knight Foundation office in Macon;

Teacher and artist Craig Burkhalter;

Middle Georgia arts boosters Sammy and Annie Dame;

Friends of Tattnall Square Park;

Community advocate Stephen Reichert;

Band and music director Laura Voss;

Music booster Sean Pritchard;

Preservationist Maryel Battin will receive the Rosalyn Elkan Lifetime Achievement Award.
