Artists invited to submit next fishing, hunting license design

Wildlife artists have an opportunity to submit their work to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for a chance to have their artwork featured on the state's next plastic hunting and fishing license cards.

The contest is open to anyone, but the artwork should depict some element of wildlife conservation in Georgia. Any species featured should be native to Georgia and must be one that is legally hunted or fished in the state, according to a release from the DNR's Wildlife Resources Division.

The artwork may be prepared electronically, using acrylic paint, watercolor or colored pencils and must be unsigned. It must also be able to fit within the dimensions of a credit card, which is 3.37 by 2.125 inches with rounded corners.

The current licenses, issued for $10, feature a whitetail deer on the front and a largemouth bass on the back. The winning design will be featured on the licenses issued by the DNR as well as any promotional and marketing materials.

Submissions can be mailed to Robin Hill at the DNR's Wildlife Resources Division, 2070 U.S. Highway 278 SE, Social Circle, GA 30025. Artwork must be received no later than Nov. 30.
