Macon ties record low Monday morning

If the air outside felt exceptionally cold Monday morning, your perceptions were accurate.

The temperature dropped to 35 degrees at Middle Georgia Regional Airport on the south end of Bibb County, which is 16 degrees below the normal low of 51.

That was low enough for some to crank up the heating system for the first time. The morning temperature tied the record low for Oct. 19.

The first time meteorologists recorded 35 degrees in Macon on this date was 1948.

It happened again in 2009.
