DNR seeks public input on outdoor recreation plan
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is seeking public input on how to distribute federal funds for outdoor recreation across the state.
Every five years, the state conducts surveys to identify needs and take inventory of outdoor recreation assets to be included in The Georgia Plan for Outdoor Recreation for 2017 through 2021, according to a news release.
One of three public meetings across the state will be held in Middle Georgia on Nov. 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Perry's Go Fish Center on Perry Parkway. Other meetings will be held Oct. 22 in Tifton and Nov. 2 in Dalton.
"Feedback from the public allows us to explore changing recreational preferences, demographic trends and funding considerations to better anticipate future community needs," Becky Kelley, director of the Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites Division of the DNR, said in a news release. "These public meetings, comments submitted through the website and participation in the process provide the opportunity to be involved and DNR values this public input."
