Bibb school bus with 2 students on board involved in accident

A Bibb County school bus picking up students for Sonny Carter Elementary School was involved in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning.

About 8:15 a.m., the bus collided with another vehicle at Montford Road and Case Street, said Stephanie Hartley, spokeswoman for the Bibb County school system.

The second vehicle, a 1991 Ford Explorer, rolled over, according to a sheriff's office news release.

The driver of the Explorer was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. She is listed in stable condition, according to the release.

Two students were on the bus. No one on the bus was injured, according to the release.

Another bus took the students to school.

The sheriff's office investigation of the crash showed the bus driver's sight was obstructed by sunlight, and she failed to yield the right of way, according to the release.
