First Choice Primary Care to expand services, programs
A nonprofit community health center in Middle Georgia will expand its facilities, programs and services with a recently awarded federal grant.
First Choice Primary Care will receive $266,230 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to improve and expand general health and medical services in its Macon and Warner Robins offices, U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop, D-Ga., announced Wednesday.
“The importance of one’s health cannot be understated and now this nonprofit organization will have the means to improve the delivery of primary and preventive health care,” Bishop said in a news release.
The money will be used, among other things, to help with cardiovascular disease care, new programs, construction and technical support, according to a news release. The Macon office, located on Walnut Street, will increase its behavioral health services. The Warner Robins office is located on Green Street.
The nonprofit has provided care to insured, uninsured and underserved individuals in Middle Georgia since 2006, according to its website.
In May, the nonprofit was awarded $650,000 in Affordable Care Act funding.
