The United Way of Central Georgia is looking for volunteers to read to an elementary school class next week.

It’s part of the national Read for the Record event Oct. 22. Read for the Record is a global reading campaign that encourages community support to help build a child’s vocabulary and love for reading by participating in a shared reading experience.

Volunteers can sign up for 30-minute to one hour sessions and will be asked to read from the book “Not Norman: A Goldfish Story” by Kelly Bennett. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday.

All volunteers are required to pass a background check.

For more information or to sign up, contact Carmen Hughey at 478-671-7834 or via e-mail at chughey@unitedwaycg.com .
