Luke Bryan concert expected to congest Macon traffic
A Luke Bryan concert at Central City Park on Friday could back up traffic on roads near the downtown Macon location as early as noon.
The congestion is expected to affect Emery Highway, Coliseum Drive, Hazel Street, Seventh Street, Walnut Street, Interstate 16, Riverside Drive south of Spring Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard south of Poplar Street.
The only entrance into the park will be Walnut Street at Seventh Street.
According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, traffic heading from the north or northeast side of the park will be routed down Walnut Street toward Central City Park.
Coliseum Drive and Riverside Drive traffic that is going to the park also will be sent down Walnut Street.
All traffic coming from the south or southwest sides of the park will be routed down Hazel Street or Poplar Street to Seventh Street. From Seventh Street traffic will be directed towards Walnut Street to get into the park.
The area of Riverside at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, as well as the entrance there, will be blocked.
