Macon County volunteer firefighters win state championship again
For the third year in a row, the Macon County Volunteer Fire Department has won the state title in the annual firefighters competition.
They competed against eight other departments, including the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, at Jekyll Island on Friday evening.
Also, for the second year in a row, Macon County volunteer Kurtis Yoder won an individual title by putting on his gear the fastest.
Macon County entered the competition for the first time in 2013 and has won it every year since.
The competition is part of the annual Georgia Fire Service Conference put on by the Georgia State Firefighters Association and the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs.
