Macon Music Volume 1 CD released at downtown party Saturday

A Macon Music CD release party on Saturday will feature the winners of a contest announced earlier this summer.

The party will run from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the Armory Ballroom, 484 First St. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Macon Music Volume 1 CD will be released at the concert, and it will also be available to download at newtownmacon.com/macon-music.

The range of genres on the CD includes country, indie, R&B, rap, pop and rock. The music also will be distributed to locally owned restaurants, bars and entertainment venues across Middle Georgia.

The CD features tracks produced by Joey Stuckey from the winning artists and bands. (Two of the winners announced in June do not have tracks on the CD.) Each group or performer will receive 25 copies of the disc for promotional purposes. The artists may not profit directly from the discs, though.

NewTown Macon and Shadow Sound Studio launched the Macon Music CD Project several months ago as a way of promoting the region’s music talent.

Next year’s contest will run from January to March.
