Macon pedestrian dies after Pio Nono hit-and-run Sunday night

A 38-year-old Macon man died late Sunday after he was run over by a hit-and-run driver on Pio Nono Avenue, authorities said.

Though further details were not immediately available, Bibb County sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Sean DeFoe said the victim, Antonial Tantce White, was struck near Carroll Street shortly before 9 p.m.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones asked the public's help locating White's family Monday morning.

Anyone with information is urged to call Jones at 478-256-2716.

DeFoe said White was in a northbound lane on Pio Nono, about four blocks north of Eisenhower Parkway and one block south of Anthony Road, when he was hit by what witnesses described as a black SUV with large rims.

The SUV, which bore a Florida license plate, was likely a Lincoln Navigator or a Cadillac Escalade with front-end damage, DeFoe said.

Anyone with information was asked to call the sheriff’s office at 751-7500.
