Decomposed body found in yard

The badly decomposed body of a woman was found in a backyard Saturday evening in Macon.

Deputies discovered the body at 2943 Southshore Drive at about 7 p.m., said Bibb County Coronor Leon Jones, after a neighbor reported a smell. The woman’s idenity is unknown.

The owner of the home said he was renting it, but someone else may have been living there. Jones said it’s not certain who was living there. He also was not sure why no one had smelled anything earlier. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
