Juneteenth Parade in Macon to cause street closures. What to know

Several streets in Downtown Macon will close for the Juneteenth Parade on Sunday, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Deputies said the parade will start at 4:30 p.m. in front of the Tubman African American Museum at 310 Cherry St. The parade will travel down Cherry Street to Second Street, then will head left toward Second Street and down Poplar Street. The parade will end at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, deputies said.

“On Sunday, no vehicle traffic will be allowed on Cherry Street and Poplar Street beginning at 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.,” the BSO said.

The following streets will be blocked:

  • Cherry Street will be blocked from Fifth Street to First Street.
  • Second Street will be blocked from Plum Street to Mulberry Street.
  • Poplar Street will be blocked from First Street to Fifth Street.
  • Fifth Street will be blocked from Oglethorpe to Mulberry Street.

Parking will not be permitted on the blocked streets starting at 7 a.m. until the parade is over, according to the BSO.
