One man dead in car crash on Bass Road in Macon, deputies say

A car crash on Bass Road in Macon led to the death of one man Monday morning, deputies said.

Deputies were dispatched at 10 a.m. Monday for a car crash involving a Peterbilt 348 commercial vehicle and a Chevrolet GMT 3500 utility truck, a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.

However, the driver “collided with the commercial vehicle traveling east, causing the utility truck to overturn,” the news release said.

The truck driver, Robert Thomas Jackson, 36, died as a result of the crash, the news release said. The next of kin was notified.

The driver of the commercial vehicle, a 62-year-old man, was treated on scene and then transported to a hospital. He is in stable condition, according to the news release.
