Man dies in car crash on Bethel Church Road in Macon. Deputies investigate

A crash on Bethel Church Road in Macon led to a man’s death Thursday night, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident took place at the intersection of Knoxville Road around 10 p.m. Thursday. An Audi SUV driving eastbound on Bethel Church Road crossed the intersection and collided with a Nissan Altima, the news release said.

The passenger of the Nissan, Tony Gales, 52, was taken to the hospital, where he was later declared dead by medical staff. The next of kin was notified. No one else was injured.

The crash is under investigation and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

Deputies urged anyone with information to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 and ask to speak with a fatality investigator.
