A driver died in a three-car collision in Macon Thursday evening, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred just before 11 p.m. on Eisenhower Parkway near the Log Cabin Drive intersection, according to deputies. Three cars — a Ford Edge, a Mercedes-Benz and a Freightliner M2 truck — were involved in the crash.

Witnesses told deputies that the driver of the Ford was traveling east on Eisenhower Parkway when he struck the back of the Mercedes-Benz, the news release said. The Ford then drifted into the westbound lanes and collided head-on with the truck.

The Ford driver was pronounced dead at the scene and identified as Victor Anthony Calhoun, 38, BCSO said. The other two drivers were treated by paramedics at the scene. No additional injuries were reported.

Deputies said that fatality investigators and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division are investigating the collision.
