Bibb County deputies, GBI to investigate death in Macon motel
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating the death of a man at a Macon motel room over the weekend, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Deputies responded to a call around 11 a.m. Saturday reporting an unresponsive person in one of the hotel rooms at Motel 6 on 105 Riverside Pkwy.
Once inside, deputies discovered an unconscious man on the bed. He was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley and identified as John Robert McLaurin, 40.
The next of kin has been notified. McLaurin’s body will be sent to the GBI for an autopsy, which was expected to be performed Monday.
Deputies urged anyone with information to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
Coroner Leon Jones told The Telegraph that there were no signs of injury or drugs on McLaurin.
