Is Applebee’s restaurant in Macon closing? Here’s which GA location recently closed and why

Your favorite neighborhood grill might be closing soon.

According to recent reports, a franchisee that operated over 60 Applebee’s restaurants filed for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month.

“The companies then experienced periods of ups and downs, as they battled through various unsuccessful strategies and promotions, the COVID-19 pandemic and the inflationary pressures presently impacting the entire restaurant industry,” franchisee representatives wrote in court documents.

While 10 restaurants in Florida have already closed, one Georgia location also had to close its doors. Here’s what to know:

Which GA Applebee’s location is closing?

The Applebee’s located in Albany (637 Westover Blvd) recently closed and has been removed from the franchise list online.

As stated in a story from USA Today, a lawyer for the franchisee said that “no additional closures are planned.”

Locations in Atlanta, Macon and Columbus remain open and there are over 1,500 locations across the country.
