Human remains found in creek in Macon, deputies say. What we know

Human remains were discovered in a wooded area in Macon on Tuesday evening, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

A call was made into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center shortly after 9 p.m., reporting “that a deceased person was discovered south of (the 200 block of) Chambers Cove Drive in the wooded area,” the news release said. It’s near the Walmart on 6020 Harrison Road and the Middle Georgia State University campus in 100 University Pkwy.

Patrol deputies arrived and found the body in a creek. The remains were determined to be from a man, the news release said.

The person’s identity and the length of time the body had been in the area have not been determined, the news release said.

The remains will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab to determine the person’s identity.
