Car crash on I-75 in Macon leads to pickup driver’s death, coroner says

A man died in a crash between a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck on Interstate 75 Friday morning, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

A crash between a red Averitt tractor-trailer and a white Chevrolet pickup truck led to the death of Mark Polk, 58, according to Jones. Polk was driving the pickup truck.

The crash occurred on I-75 near the Sardis Church Road exit, Jones said.

Polk was pronounced dead shortly after 1:30 a.m. Friday by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. Polk’s family was at the crash scene and was notified of his identity.
