The Middle Georgia Regional Airport is preparing to expand its offerings to travelers with flights to Fort Lauderdale, and bringing back nonstop service to Baltimore, according to a news release from Bibb County.

The flights will be offered through Contour Airlines, which is expanding its footprint at the Macon airport.

The airport was previously slated to offer flights to Fort Lauderdale through Spirit Airlines, the release said, but those plans were cancelled in September 2025 when the airline filed for bankruptcy for the second time that year.

Contour previously operated flights from Macon to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, but shifted the flights to Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia.

The release said the routes were introduced as a response to demand from the community for more travel options.

“We’re excited to see Contour Airlines continue to invest in Macon with the addition of Fort Lauderdale service,” said Heather Hillstrom Lowe, deputy director of aviation with Macon-Bibb County. “The updated schedule, including the return to Baltimore, is designed to optimize aircraft utilization and support this expansion — ultimately strengthening the overall network available to our community.”

Flights to Baltimore will run daily, with a second flight scheduled on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Flights to Fort Lauderdale will operate four times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
