This is the best breakfast restaurant in Macon, our readers say. Here’s what’s on the menu
Bacon, eggs and biscuits, anyone? We asked and you voted in our most recent bracket poll for the best breakfast restaurant in Macon — and we finally found our winner.
So, which breakfast spot won and will be crowned the best breakfast restaurant in Macon for 2026?
After four rounds of voting and hundreds of votes, H&H Restaurant won the top spot.
“Great food, friendly staff and vibrant atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to eat and enjoy some good company,” wrote Jack Guitton, a reader of the Telegraph. “It also has a ‘Macon Vibe’ about it with all of the artwork and posters on the wall depicting images of famous music legends with ties to the city.”
H&H founders Inez Hill and Louise Hudson (Mama Louise) opened the restaurant in 1959 with classic southern cuisine and Macon’s musical history in mind and this is reflected on the menu. From the Midnight Rider biscuit to the Ramblin’ Man biscuit, the friendship between Mama Louise and Macon’s iconic musicians comes alive in bold flavors.
Other favorites on the menu include the Jimmy Hall Biscuit, which is a fried chicken biscuit with Macon’s hot sauce and dill pickles or Kirk’s Mystic Gravy, open-faced biscuits with sausage gravy and a side of bacon or sausage.
And let’s not forget Chicken and Waffles or a yummy hash brown casserole.
H&H is located at 807 Forsyth Street in Macon and is open for breakfast and lunch during the week, as well as brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
