Sweet, smoky, saucy. Or maybe you like it grilled or with a dry rub.

Barbecue is a southern classic and a delicacy no matter how you cook it up. And in the South, there are endless barbecue joints to enjoy.

Recently, Southern Living readers sent in their favorites for barbecue in each southern state and the list is definitely drool-worthy. Here’s what to know about the Georgia barbecue spot on the list:

“Southern Soul is known for delighting diners with contemporary twists on classic Georgia barbecue. Smoky pulled pork and savory Brunswick stew are served alongside unique brown sugar and-honey-glazed ribs,” wrote Robert F. Moss with Southern Living.

Other favorites on the menu include the Jerk Chicken Burrito, House-cured and Smoked Pastrami or Southern Fried Chicken.

Southern Soul has been featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” “BBQ Pitmasters,” as well as Garden & Gun and GeorgiaTrend.

The restaurant is located at 2020 Demere Rd, St Simons Island, GA 31522.
