Driver ‘lost control’ in flipped semi-truck, died on Macon highway
The driver of an 18-wheeler died when the truck flipped Monday night on a Macon highway, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.
The semi tractor-trailer crashed around 8 p.m. on Interstate 75 Southbound past the Riverside Drive exit, according to a news release from BCSO.
“It was reported that the driver appeared to have lost control of his vehicle striking an embankment and then overturning,” the news release said.
Deputies said they believe the incident was accidental.
Daniel Arnold, the 42-year-old driver, was found dead inside the vehicle, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.
Deputies were investigating the incident, and anyone with tips was urged to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers.
